Advanced Materials Labs
At the Advanced Materials Laboratory we develop different materials combining elements such as Ni, Mn, Nb, Co, Al and O. We work with physical and chemical routes to obtain electrodes for supercapacitres, batteries and fuel cells.
In particular, we develop NCM, LFP, LNMO, NCA, LMO and LCO i.e. Lithium Nickel Cobalt Manganese Oxide (LiNiCoMnO2), Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4/C), Lithium Nickel Manganese Spinel (LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4), lithium nickel cobalt aluminum oxide (LiNiCoAlO2), lithium manganese oxide (LiMn2O4) and lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2).
We still develop yttria stabilized zirconia, YSZ. (8% Y) and gadolinium-doped ceria, GDC (10% Gd) and Ni/YSZ cermets; Cu/YSZ for composition of electrodes and electrolytes in SOFC. Our specialty is the production of fine powders (nanometric) so that they can be used in paints for the production of electrodes for supercapacitors, batteries and SOFC.
